This guitar, which bears the Gibson Custom Shop logo in gold on the back of the peghead, is a vintage reissue of a model which was first returned to production (after a 7 year hiatus) 32 years ago. The Les Paul Custom is extremely deluxe, having ebony fingerboard with large pearl block inlays, ebony headplate with postwar Gibson logo, a large five-piece triangle and parallelogram headstock design, yellowed celluloid binding, a six- ply bound top, five ply bound back, and three ply bound pickguard, twin gold plated humbucking pickups, tune-o-matic bridge and stop tailpiece and all other details are accurate to 1968 specifications except one. That one is that the top of the guitar is incredibly flamed tiger-striped maple - like you have never seen on a Les Paul Custom. The golden (it isn't really "butterscotch" color, friends, it's really what's left when you leave a cherry sunburst Les Paul in a sunny shop window for 5 years) honey finish brings out every subtle nuance of its bookmatched little heart of figured fibre.
