Hi,

hab mit Stuart konferiert. Für die Interessierten hier ´n paar Ausschnitte aus seine Emails:

"(...)Thanks for your email. The halo will fit your Crybaby without any mods. The
inductor and pot will make a big difference, but to get closer to a '60s Vox
sound you should also reduce the gain of the circuit.

The early Vox wahs had medium gain transistors, and a 470ohm emitter
resistor on the first transistor. Modern Crybaby wahs have high gain
transistors, and a 390ohm resistor, which further increases the gain of the
circuit. To fix this, you can either use a higher value resistor (they use a
510ohm in the V847), or replace the resistor with a 470ohm and the
transistor Q1 with a lower gain device. I can supply the parts to do this
for £0.15.

You might also want to remove the input buffer. This is technically the
wrong thing to do, because the buffer raises the input impedance, decreasing
the loading on the guitar pickups and improving the high frequency response
of the wah. However, I don't like the added treble, so I usually remove the
buffer. There are instructions for that on my DIY site,
www.green-fuz.freeserve.co.uk.(...)"

dann fragte ich ihn noch:
"(...)what´s the price for the "Mod board for Crybaby with output buffer and 10-way DIP sweep switch" on your site. perhaps ist´s the cheaper way to get the hendrix-sound...or is it enough to change pot, inductor, the transistor Q1 and remove the input buffer of my crybaby, to get the ultimate 60´s Vox-Sound?(...)"

er antwortete:
"(...)Thanks for your reply. A custom board like that would be £65, but to be
honest I don't think you'd gain much from it, particularly because you've
already modded your wah.

The output buffer is needed if you run the wah in front of a Fuzz Face or
Tone Bender, but is not necessary if you only use modern
overdrive/distortion pedals.

I don't find the DIP switch very useful, because I always find myself coming
back to the stock 0.01µF value! However, if you like to tweak your wah
continually, and you want access to the "in between" settings that a 6-way
switch won't do, then the DIP is a good choice.

Since you're obviously capable of modding your own board, replacing the pot,
inductor & Q1 will be the cheaper option. These mods will get you very close
to a '60s Vox sound.(...)"

Keep on modifying,
Peter

;ö)

P.S.: der Wert 0,010µF für den Sweep Capacitor fand / find ich übrigens auch am besten. alles andere ist "unhörbar" (schlecht)...!!!!
