Jup, live wird ein 'Gold Line Frequency Analyzer' eingesetzt, damit die unterschiedlichen Gitarren die grundlegenden tonalen Characteristika von Pearly Gates aufweisen. Ehe ich mir einen abbreche, zitiere ich einfach Billy: "I change guitars a lot, but I want them all to have the basic tonal characteristics of Pearly Gates. We sampled Pearly playing a Texas G chord (a thirdless open-G chord played with the thumb barring the sixth string - low to high, the notes are G, thumb-muted fifth string, open D, open G, D and G), and used that tone as the baseline for Elwood (Francis, Gibbons' guitar tech) to programm the EQ recipes for each guitar. By adjusting the EQ personality of each instrument - if one has a weak spot compared to Pearly, you add a little spike to help it out; if a frequency is too hot, you bring it down - Elwood can take seven guitars that sound nothing like each other, and transform them into a cohesive, manageable group."
